monday afternoon around 4.30pm
on NEL on the way to potong pasir
mich took the seat nearest to the glass planel, melv beside her.
after some time...
(melv staring seriously at something beside mich for a long time)
mich: what you looking at?
melv: (still staring) that boy is taking photo of you.
mich: huh? for what?
(mich turns to her right and saw a secondary sch boy standing against the glass planel, fiddling with his handphone. nothing interesting. probably smsing)
mich: no la.
(slience)
melv: (suddenly stood up and walk over to the boy.) Can i take a look at your phone...? (points to mich.)
mich: !!!!?!!?!
(a couple of mins later, melv walks back to the seat and sit down)
mich: what happened?
melv: nothing.
mich: ??
alighted at potong pasir.
mich: he got take anything meh?
melv: i cant find anything in the phone. think he took out the memory card.
mich: aiya.. dont think so la.
melv: his phone looks too empty. think must be inside the memory card.
mich: take photo of me for what?
melv: he took video. was aiming under your shirt.
mich: how you know? he's just smsing la.
melv: who will tilt the phone at 45degree and stare at the screen for so long while smsing?
mich: eh. dont think too much la. he's just a sec two boy.
melv: argh. later he put the video on web.
mich: hahaha. he take me for what anyway. not as if i've blooming boobs.
melv: it's not about what he took. but the fact that he's taking.
the fact that a person is taking photo/video of someone else without his/her consent.
suddenly reminded of myself, sometimes taking photograph of strangers or people without their awareness and definitely without their consent.
even if i dont call these snapshots. and call them art photography....
somehow, suddenly, it seems morally incorrect.
self-portraiture is the best.
at melv's house
melv: how come you're not upset or anything that he's taking video of you?
mich: cos i choose to believe that he didn't take anything.
self-denial is the second best.
